• STREAM (Science-Technology-Reading-Engineering-Art-Math)

    Kindergarten

In Kindergarten, we do a lot of exploration and learning about the world around us. We read many books and use them to extend our learning. Some of the concepts we explore are:

        • Fairytales
        • Plants and animals
        • Forces
        • Matter
        • Changes in water
        • Engineering and building

    1st Grade

In 1st grade, our focus is doing hands-on activities/ projects that align with what the children are learning during their knowledge time in the classroom. The concepts covered included:

        • The human body
        • Matter
        • Astronomy
        • Habitats
        • Sound
        • Beebot robots and basic coding

    2nd Grade

In second grade, we do a lot of building activities and inquiry-based projects centered around many science concepts. The concepts we cover include:

        • Matter
        • Slow/Fast land changes
        • Plants & Pollination
        • Maps & Landforms
        • Beebots/Sphero Robots and coding

    3rd Grade

3rd graders begin to explore more with how to use technology and the engineering design process in learning. We learn about:

        • Forces/magnets
        • Light/electricity/circuits
        • Weather/Hazards
        • Green Screen
        • Sphero robots and coding

    4th Grade

In 4th grade, we do a lot more project-based learning. The children direct a lot of their learning and projects. Some concepts covered include:

        • Fossils
        • Weathering/Erosion
        • Sphero robots and coding
        • Creating homes for gnomes that include the jobs of a structural engineer, landscaper, electrical engineer, and interior and exterior designers
        • Boston Tea Party catapults

    5th Grade

5th graders continue project-based learning and using the engineering design process to solve problems. Some projects include:

        • Book Creator
        • Matter
        • Astronomy
        • Mini-golf holes
        • Plants and animals
        • Forces
