Students are expected to wear appropriate attire that does not distract from the learning environment both during the school day and at school sponsored activities. Students are expected to practice good cleanliness and tidiness.
The following shall not be worn in the building or at school activities:
Any clothing, paraphernalia, grooming, jewelry, accessories or body adornments that are disruptive , potentially disruptive, or represent gang affiliations to the educational environment as determined by the administration; including but not limited to: Tank tops less than 2 inches in width, tops with spaghetti straps, clothing depicting or representing drugs, alcohol, gang symbols, secret societies or sexually inappropriate messages, athletic muscle/mesh shirts, shredded, ripped, frayed, or torn clothing above the knee, hanging overall straps or decorative pant straps, half shirts, strapless clothing, tube tops, see-through clothing, bare mid-riffs, or clothing that allows undergarments to be seen, are not permitted. Shirts should be touching the top of the lower garment when standing with hands at the side.
Additionally, inappropriate items include but are not limited to:
Clothing which is backless (backless defined as little or nothing from the shoulders down), reveals all or part of the buttocks, chest, armpits or clothing that is inappropriately short, tight or low-cut, is not permitted. Bottom garments must be longer than the tip of the middle finger on the fully extended arm. Students may not wear slippers and all shoes worn should be hard soled. Appropriate attire does not include hats, caps, bandanas, do-rags, sweat bands or other head coverings or any part of these which is visible. Additionally, Bandanas may not be worn as headbands. Ragging and sagging are unacceptable and items such, as sunglasses, chains or spikes are not to be worn in the building. Personal grooming during class is not permitted. In cases of questionable dress, the administration will have final word on what is appropriate. Students in violation of this policy will be asked to change clothes. If a student does not have other clothing, the school will provide some. Subsequent violations will be subject to disciplinary action.
