Mrs. Julie Butterworth
I've been teaching science since 2003. I earned a degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, a Masters of Science in Biology from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science from Colorado College. Since I started teaching I've also logged more than 100 hours of additional work, especially in Biology and Environmental Sciences courses, workshops and seminars. One of my favorites was a one week class studying the water chemistry of the Colorado River. Over the years I've taught Biology, Chemistry, Honors Biology, AP Biology, Environmental Science, Physical science and Current Topics in Science.
I love to teach and can't imagine doing anything else. I love having the ability to create new ways to deliver knowledge. I love that every day is different and a challenge. I love working with kids and having the chance to make a difference in their lives. And what better way than teaching science!
I am blessed with a sweet, loving husband, two beautiful daughters and a high energy golden retriever named Tex. I love to hike, camp, bike, horseback ride, whitewater raft and swim. When I moved from the midwest to Colorado I discovered that I enjoy snowboarding, though my skill is rather limited, which usually results in some fantastic falls.
What I expect from my students is that they achieve to the best of their abilities. My focus is on students understanding the objectives for a unit and the course. I encourage students who are having problems to talk to me so that I can help them. I'm
