Library Services Overview

  • A school library, or media center, is a library within a school where students have access to a variety of resources. The goal of school libraries and media centers is to ensure that all members of a school community have equitable access to books and reading, to information, and to information technology. School libraries are distinct from public libraries because they serve as learner-oriented laboratories that support, extend and individualize a school's curriculum. A school library often serves as the center and coordinating agency for learning materials.

A Reading Odyssey: Kenny and the Dragon

  • Cover of Kenny and the Dragon by Tony DiTerlizzi 2017

Last fall, Odyssey shared "The World According to Humphrey," by Betty G Birney, with the school community. Reading together with all grade levels and family members brought the community together with an experience staff, students and families will never forget. As Humphrey would say, it was fun, fun, fun!

Now into 2017, what better way to continue growing as a community than to enjoy another book together. Please join the rest of the  Odyssey Comet community in reading "Kenny and the Dragon," by Tony DiTerlizzi.

Each child received their own copy of the book Feb. 3. During an all school assembly, students watched a video greeting the author made especially for the school.

Each week, audio or video files will be available to help you follow along at home.
