Mrs. Stearman

I am excited to be in Colorado and teaching at D49.  I began my career in 2001 and I'm still excited when each new school year comes around and this year is really going to be great because I am moving back to 5th Grade.

I graduated from Central Oklahoma University, of Edmond, Oklahoma, with a bachelor's in Elementary Education.  I have earned my endorsement We in Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development from UC Berkerly, California.  I yearn to learn new ideas about teaching our greatest national asset, our students.

I began my teaching career in Oklahoma, where I taught 5th grade for 12 years.   We moved to California where I taught 4 and 5th grades for 7 years and a short stop in Texas.  Relocating here was the best move we ever made.  My husband is from the Littleton area, while I'm a southern girl from Oklahoma.  My husband and I have two grown children, our son is in Mississippi and our daughter has just moved to Colorado.

I have two corgi dogs, Daisy Mayheim and Jack-Jack.  We like to take them on walks, play fetch, and spoil them way too much.  Both dogs like to go to Oklahoma to see my mom, (she gives them extra treats).  According to our kids, Mark and I have replaced them with corgis.

In my spare time I love to make quilts by hand for family members and then sew whatever tickles my fancy.  I hope at the end of my life I win the award for the most fabric in a closet.

Announcements

  • We believe that all students will need a snack each day due to the fact that our lunch is from 1:10 to 1:30 this year.

We want our students to maintain a good learning brain, so healthy snacks are the ticket.  Healthy snacks that help your child are:  fresh fruits, vegetables, yogurt and whole grain crackers are a few.
