Mrs. Roenfeldt

Welcome to another excellent year at Meridian Ranch Elementary School! I'm happy to begin my fourth year teaching Technology. Before becoming a permanent part of the MRES family, I spent 5 years as one of the substitute teachers in our school. I loved the experience of being a guest teacher in all classes because I had the privilege of teaching every child and building valued connections with them. As I enjoyed the daily teaching moments with different students and grade levels I realized teaching a perspectives class was a great fit for me. I'm looking forward to seeing returning students and welcoming new ones to my class where together we'll grow our technology power.

Before moving to Colorado, my family lived in California which is where I received my BA in Sociology and my MA in Education. Throughout my career I've always had an element of supporting children paired with building education. Teaching has been a natural fit for me whether it was in social services, foster care or currently elementary education. Speaking of family, my husband of 25 years currently delivers mail at a post office in Colorado Springs and our 18 year old son was a student here and is now transitioning into his Senior year at Falcon High School. Wow, time flies!

My goal this year is to teach your child how to build their technology power while at the same time balancing that power with the various responsibilities that come with it. During the year I will typically quote two people. Peter Parker's uncle in SpiderMan who said "with great power comes great responsibility" and Walt Disney who said "if you can dream it, you can do it". These two quotes represent what I want to give your child every year they attend our school. I hope to help build confidence in their technology power, teach them the best ways to use their power responsibly and inspire them to dream up new ways in which technology can be used to benefit our ever changing society.
