Hello!  My name is Amy DeWeerd and this is my fourth year teaching at Falcon Elementary School.  I am delighted to be your child's third grade teacher.

I began my teaching career in Michigan and California, where I taught kindergarten.  My husband and I moved to Colorado Springs in 1997.  I was a guest teacher for many years while raising our two young boys.  I went back to teaching full-time seven years ago and I couldn't have been happier with that decision.

My top priority is to build meaningful relationships with students and parents.  Creating a positive learning environment while fostering a culture of kindness, compassion, and empathy is very important.

I am a creative, enthusiastic, and energetic teacher.  I make sure to differentiate instruction and give my students choices to meet the needs of the different learning styles in the classroom.

Family has always been one of the most precious gifts in my life.  My husband and I have been married for 33 years.  We have two amazing boys, Kyle and Kedrick.  We are so fortunate, especially our boys, to live a mile from my parents.  We all enjoy the outdoors, including walking our dogs, hiking, skiing, and family BBQ's in our backyard in the summer.
