Mrs. Charis Johnson

Hello!

My name is Charis Johnson, and I am so excited about beginning my 3rd year at Springs Ranch Elementary. This is my 11th year teaching first grade and my 18th year teaching in elementary. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene University. My Masters in Education is in Quality Schools from Graceland University.

I have phonics training in Riggs, Orton-Gillingham, and Lindamood Bell. Reading and writing are my joy! I also received extensive training in Social/Emotional Intelligence. I enjoy teaching kids about self-awareness, character development, and managing their emotions. Math time also makes me excited when kids discover how numbers work when using hands-on manipulatives.

My excitement and commitment to teaching only increases with each passing year. I am dedicated to continually educating myself in order to keep up with best practices and the latest, most powerful, research-based education.

My hobbies include swimming, movies, dates with my husband, walks with my dogs, hanging with my family, and getting to the Oregon Coast as much as I can. My husband and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary. We are blessed with a son and a daughter, both in high school. We love watching our son's cross-country meets, and attending our daughter's ballet recitals.

My personal mission statement in education: Through dedication and commitment, I will strive to instill the joy of learning and achieve the maximum potential of each child through differentiated instruction and love.

I look forward to partnering with you in your child's first grade year!
