Hello IVES Families,

I am very excited to at IVES for my 20th year in education!

After graduating high school in 2000, I attended Youngstown State University where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Applied Science with a major in Interior Merchandising and a minor in Marketing in 2003. My career in education began with me receiving my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2005. I taught for one year in Cincinnati, Ohio as a Title One Reading Interventionist before moving back to Colorado. I have spent 17 years working on the southeast side of Colorado Springs in D2 Harrison where I held positions as a First Grade Teacher, K-5 Reading Interventionist, and K-5 Literacy Coach. During my years of teaching I discovered that teaching children to read and understand the English language was something that I was very passionate about. This led to me returning to school and completing classes at Ohio University for my Reading Endorsement in 2014. Since then I have had the pleasure of both teaching students to read and coaching teachers in research based best practices grounded in the Science of Reading.

My husband is a paralegal and works for a law firm in downtown Colorado Springs. We will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary this September! We live here in Banning Lewis Ranch with our one daughter Arwen who attends middle school. I am a huge Disney fan, and love traveling to Florida or California for trips to Disney World or Disneyland. I also enjoy attending concerts and have made several trips out of state to see my favorite bands.  I also spend a lot of my spare time with my daughter leading her Girl Scout troop. I am very much looking forward to working with the students in our wonderful community this year.
