Barry Schneiderman

My name is Barry Schneiderman and I am excited about working with parents and guardians, the IVES teachers, and our fabulous Flyers as the brand-new IVES Instructional Math Coach.

Over the course of my career, I taught sixth grade for 17 years (where I served as the Math Department Chair), and high school math for 2 years. In my role as a sixth-grade math teacher, I spent ample time teaching 3rd-5th grade concepts, both in my math classroom and through a variety of skills and intervention classes.  Through these roles, I identified which math skills are essential for success in middle school, high school, and life in general, and developed curriculum and techniques to teach these skills to students in a fun and engaging way.  I believe that all students can learn and enjoy math, and I use songs, poems, raps, and games in my teaching. I am excited about bringing this background to work with teachers and students at IVES to both increase comfort level and improve understanding of math concepts.

Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent 14 years as project manager for two major U.S. corporations. I bring this real-world experience, a love for teaching, and a passion for driving students to success to work each and every day.  My education includes a BS and MS in Engineering, an MBA in Finance, and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction.

On a personal note, I have been married for 32 years and have lived in Colorado Springs since 1992.  My wife and I and have two wonderful grown sons and our new addition, a wild and crazy puppy named Bosco.  In my spare time, I enjoy playing pickleball and racewalking (yes, it’s actually a sport!), which I do competitively.

I look forward to being part of the team that introduces the wonders of math to your students at IVES!
