I am thrilled to be a part of the IVES family! This is my 28th year of teaching with the majority being in first and second grades. Before becoming a teacher, I was a tutor, girl’s club leader, and Sunday-school teacher. My sister and mother-in-law are both teachers, so education is a family business.
First grade is such a fun and challenging time for learners. Each student deserves a chance to learn and work in an environment that encourages think-time, some mental struggle time, and the opportunity to persevere through different learning activities. The arts integration focus at IVES creates such a great environment for students to do exactly that and show their learning in new ways. This school year will be one of growth and learning for all.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time reading and crafting or enjoying time with my husband and my three adult-kids. We enjoy sports, game-night and face-time, and family dinners together–usually through face-time. We spend a lot of time being outside on hikes or trails and loving all our native-Colorado has to offer!
Building relationships, establishing a safe and respectful classroom environment, and helping students develop a growth mindset are important goals for this year. I also want students to have fun and enjoy coming to school. I will communicate often and share all about our time. I look forward to partnering with you to make this year a success!
