Mrs. Monica Glickman
Hi! This is my sixth year at Horizon. I taught 6th grade for three years and am now going into my third year in 7th grade. I have coached soccer here, and I plan to continue coaching track.
This will be my 14th year in education, all here in Colorado Springs. I grew up in southern California and I completed my bachelors degree in K-8 education at Azusa Pacific University. After I graduated, I started my educational career in Harrison School District 2. I served the D2 students and families for 8 years. I completed my Masters degree at UCCS for Administrative Leadership in 2015. I also have a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction of Mathematics through UCCS. I am a lifelong learner and I love improving my teaching practice to better serve my students.
I enjoy spending time with my husband Brian and my two sons, Chase (5) and Riley (2). We enjoy listening to different music genres, reading, cooking, and working on projects together. Our favorite place to visit is the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
Math is my favorite subject to teach. The beauty of math is how many strategies there are to find the answer. In our class, we discuss our methods and their effectiveness. We learn from our mistakes and are always working to develop skills that will carry beyond math class and middle school. Desmos (our curriculum) strongly encourages finding various ways to solve problems and developing their conceptual understanding.
I enjoy working as a team with parents, guardians, and students, so please reach out if you have any questions.
