Welcome! My name is Jamie Mitchell and I am so excited to welcome you into our classroom and feel so fortunate to be able to play a small role in your child's educational career. This is my 15th year of teaching and my 14th year at Woodmen Hills Elementary. Previously, I have taught third grade (1 year), fourth grade (2 years) and first grade (12 years). I'm thrilled to be returning to first grade, where my heart is filled with so much love and laughter from your sweet kids! During our year together, your child will grow in more ways than you can imagine, learn to make mistakes and become better because of them, and experience the love of a classroom family. Teaching kids to love reading and find their true potential in the magic of math is such a passion of mine and one that I hope to instill in every student within my classroom. Let's get started! 

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Geography with an emphasis in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and my K-12 Reading Endorsement from UCCS as well. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Donovan (who is also in education), and we have been married for 17 wonderful years. While not in the classroom, you can find me at the lake! My husband and I love wake surfing, wakeboarding, and camping. A fun fact about myself is that I spend a lot of my time in the summer and early fall working as a wedding planner and I absolutely love it! A few of my favorites include Starbucks, fitness training, interior decorating, warm weather and trying new recipes. I am a Colorado native and, of course, a Colorado sports team fan.
