My name is Marissa Kuik, and I teach social studies at Vista Ridge High School. My favorite discipline to teach within the social studies field is definitely U.S. history, which I am grateful I get to do here at Vista Ridge. This is my first year teaching and so far it has been a great experience, and this school has been an awesome opportunity to start my teaching career at. 

 

I grew up in Minnesota, just north of the Twin Cities. I went to school in Iowa and then moved to Colorado Springs to get my Master's Degree and to run cross country and track for the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Go Mountain Lions! I loved it here so much that I decided to stay and pursue teaching. I am also a high school cross country and track coach. 

 

Again, I am so grateful I get to be a part of the District 49 family and especially the Vista Ridge family. All the administrators, mentor teachers, and my social studies department have been so welcoming and have made this first year less scary. I am very grateful that I get to teach students history and build relationships with them as well.
