I love teaching high school!

I love books, movies, tv, music, poems, and learning other people's stories. That's why I teach English - I get to use all of those in my lessons.

At Vista Ridge I get to teach English 3 - American Literature and AP Literature and Composition. The stories we read, essays we write, and discussions we have in those classes are always fun to teach, but even more fun (for me - and I hope for my students) to learn from. I consider it a good day if class ends with a feeling of wonder and excitement about what comes next.

Prior to coming to Vista I had the privilege of teaching for seven years at a rival high school here in the Springs, earning my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and ESL from UCCS, as well as  working at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and in the Hospitality Industry downtown when I first moved here from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I am a proud Navy brat who has had the great privilege of traveling around and living in multiple countries - including but not limited to Japan, Spain, and Italy.

Outside of school, my husband (who is also a teacher here at VR, in the Science department) and I can be found playing in Colorado's great outdoors - running white water, hiking the trails, and loving life in general with our dogs and family and friends whenever they come to visit from all over the world.

I am so glad to be a part of the Vista Ridge Wolf Pack and know this will be an awesome school year!
