Degrees and Certifications:
Erik Klostermann
Though I was born in San Diego, I have lived in Colorado since I can remember (except for a short stint in Chicago for my masters). I grew up in Monument and went to Lewis-Palmer before going to Boulder to get my degrees in Film Studies and History. After working on various film projects post-college, I decided I wanted to get my masters at the University of Chicago, where I received my degree in Humanities which allowed me to look at history through various lenses. Instead of the purely political and economic standpoint of history, we looked at it through a social, philosophical lens while using art and philosophy to gain a deeper understanding of history. This is my 4th year at Vista Ridge, and I love teaching Social Studies while also helping with the theater program, assisting with lights and sound for our shows. I have taught AP Psychology, AP US History, AP Comparative Government, AP US Government, Psychology, US History, and American Government.
